Community Members Talk About Racial Equity & Healing
On January 22, 2019, the Delaware State Human Relations Commission in partnership with First State Community Action Agency and the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice hosted for the first time in Sussex County, a National Day of Racial Healing event in Georgetown. Approximately thirty people attended to engage in meaningful dialogue around race and share ways to take collective action towards a more equitable society.

Community Comes Together to Focus on Development in Coverdale

MLK "Voice 4 Youth" Essay Contest Finals
Students from across the state of Delaware were invited to participate in an essay contest that shares how Dr. King’s life and work speaks to their dreams. This year, more than 23 schools and organizations from throughout Delaware were represented at the semifinals held on January 11-12, 2019 in Dover and Wilmington respectively and competition was tough.

First State Provides Holiday Gifts and Clothing to Families in Need
The holidays were happy and bright for many children in Sussex and Kent County, thanks to the charitable support from WBOC Bless Our Children Campaign! Forty-eight families consisting of more than 135 children received Christmas gifts of toys and warm clothing. Many of these hard-working families earn poverty-level income and buying Christmas gifts can be a challenge, sometimes burden. Some families them have suffered devastating loss and tragedy and were overcome with grief.
