Sussex and Kent County residents may qualify to receive an energy-efficient window air conditioner through the 2015 Summer Cooling Assistance Program (SCAP). The program helps cool homes with a room-sized window unit and ensures the health and safety of low-income residents, particularly households with small children, elderly individuals, and those with chronic health conditions which aggravated by extreme heat conditions.

First State Community Action Agency will be accepting walk-ins between 9:00am – 2:00pm on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 in Georgetown (308 N. Railroad Ave) and on Tuesday, July 21, 2015 in Dover (655 S. Bay Road, Suite 4J) for individuals interested in applying for a window A.C.

To qualify, applicants must be either 60 years of age or older, a person with a disability, or have children under the age of five. Households must meet income eligibility requirements at or below 200% federal poverty guidelines which have not received AC from this program in the past five years.
