Dover—On Thursday, April 27th First State Community Action Agency hosted a Legislative Luncheon inside Legislative Hall. First State’s management team engaged with Delaware Legislators, both senators and representatives from New Castle, Kent County, and Sussex County, providing information on First State's poverty-relief programs and the value of community action in the state of Delaware.
Relationships were built and strengthened and a greater awareness was given as legislators and staff were enlightened how First State is and and can make an impact on their constituents.
Following the luncheon, Mrs. Edwards and members of the management team sat in the Senator Chambers Session where Delaware Senators (led by Senator Brian Pettyjohn) proposed and approved the Senate Concurrent Resolution #13 proclaiming May 2017 as “Community Action Month” in the State of Delaware.
Special thanks to all of the Delaware legislators who attended the luncheon—First State greatly appreciates you taking the time to interact with our staff and learn about the work we’re doing in in the community. We look forward to our continued partnership and your support as we continuously work to fight poverty and improve Delaware.
