Georgetown: On Monday, April 23rd, First State representatives met with Sussex County legislators, elected officials, and partners to discuss the agency's poverty relief efforts in Sussex County.
Executive Director Bernice Edwards and her team gave a compelling presentation on the wide range of comprehensive programs and services First State provides to lift people out from poverty and to help residents become self-sufficient.
Legislators and community leaders also engaged in meaningful discussion on collaborative opportunities, constituent needs and resources, innovative efforts, and other effective ways to assist Sussex County residents, especially those of low-income.
Topics ranged from housing and homelessness, to job creation and training initiatives, livable wages, and transportation needs of rural residents.
Special thanks to all of our Sussex County legislators, local elected officials, partners and friends who attended and contributed to this meaningful discourse.
