Harvey Kenton and Vice Chair Anne Farley, Ph.D. Dover -- Community Action month kicked off to a great start with support from the Delaware State legislature. On May 1, the Delaware House of Representatives passed a special resolution recognizing May as Community Action Month. In the tribute sponsored by State Reps. Ruth Briggs King and James "JJ" Johnson, the House thanked First State Community Action Agency for providing over 50 years of valuable, dedicated service in Delaware. Executive Director Bernice Edwards thanked the House of Representatives for their generous and continued support of First State which has enabled the agency to serve more than 10,000 people, 6,000 families and over 23 low-income communities throughout the entire state. A certificate of appreciation was awarded to Rep. Johnson who, along with Rep. Harvey Kenton, will retire from the assembly this year. First State Community Action Agency would like to thank all of our friends in the Delaware House of Representatives for recognizing the month of May as Community Action Month in Delaware and for acknowledging the powerful impact community action agencies have in the lives of low-income residents!
