First State Celebrates Summer Camp Youth

What a GREAT Summer!!!!

On August 2, 2018, First State Community Action Agency held a summer camp closing Celebration in Georgetown. Students, parents, staff and school administrators came together to celebrate what youth learned in the program over summer. The celebration focused around prevention on the following topics: tobacco, healthy food, exercise and bullying. More than 30 youth participated in the camp ceremony, demonstrating their knowledge, music and artistic talents before their family and peers! First State’s Summer Enrichment Camp engages youth in fun and learning through recreation activities, culture, and creativity. The summer camp received funding from The Department of Services for Children, Youth and their Families to provide prevention activities during our camp. Summer activities included dance (Cross-fit), recreation (corn hole competitions, kickball, basketball, jump rope and hula hoop), tobacco-prevention (sponsored by the American Lung Association), and swimming (water safety classes held at Sussex Academy of Arts & Sciences Aquatic Center).
