Big congratulations to Oliver Short from our N. Georgetown Elementary School site for being recognized as the winner of our Sussex County anti-tobacco T-shirt design contest.

Oliver’s design stood out for its creativity and for sharing a powerful message about staying tobacco-free. We are so proud of Oliver and all of the students who participated, using their talents and voices to promote healthy choices.

At First State Community Action Agency, our afterschool programs are about so much more than homework help. They give young people safe, supportive spaces to build confidence, explore their creativity, strengthen leadership skills, and connect with caring adults and peers. These programs help students grow not just academically, but socially and emotionally, while encouraging them to think critically, make healthy choices, and see the value of their own voice.

We are proud to celebrate Oliver’s accomplishment and proud of the role our afterschool programs play in helping students across Sussex County learn, grow, and shine.

Congratulations, Oliver!
