First State Community Action Agency is proud to partner with Nehemiah Gateway CDC Delaware to bring free, trusted tax preparation services to our community through the IRS VITA program.


If your household income is $69,000 or less, you may qualify for FREE tax preparation.

How Our Drop-Off Process Works


✔ Pick up your tax packet anytime that’s convenient for you outside the Bernice M. Edwards Conference Center doors (east side of our Georgetown office).

✔ Complete your paperwork and place your documents in the secure drop box.

✔ Our IRS-certified volunteers prepare your return.

✔ Once completed, you’ll schedule your quality review and pickup appointment to finalize and file your return.


It’s safe. It’s easy. It’s convenient.


If you prefer in-person or virtual appointments, there are additional sites across New Castle, Kent, and Sussex Counties offering those options.


Why This Matters


VITA helps working families claim valuable tax credits, including:


✔ Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC)

✔ Child Tax Credit (CTC)

✔ Education credits and more


The EITC alone can mean thousands of dollars back for working families. That’s money for rent, utilities, groceries, savings, or paying down debt. Every year, eligible households miss out simply because they don’t file.
