Engaging With Community Experiences: A Visit With Senator Chris Coons

Today we had the privilege of welcoming U.S. Senator Chris Coons and his team to First State Community Action Agency for a meaningful visit with our team and community. Senator Coons spent time with our staff, board members, program participants, and local residents, learning from the individuals who interact with our programs firsthand.

He heard firsthand how federal investments translate into real impact for families — from housing support and energy assistance to youth development, financial empowerment, and community programs. Most importantly, residents were able to share their needs, their challenges, and their hopes for a stronger, more connected community.

We are grateful for his time, his attentiveness, and his willingness to engage deeply with the people we serve. Visits like today help shine a light on the work happening at the local level and highlight the power of community voices in shaping solutions.
