Local residents are bringing the community together for the Heart of Georgetown Cleanup on Saturday, July 18.

The event was organized by members of the Georgetown community who wanted to create an opportunity for neighbors to work together and take pride in the places they share. First State Community Action Agency is pleased to support their efforts by providing a meeting location, cleanup supplies, and staff assistance.

Volunteers can check in from 9:30 to 10:00 a.m. at 308 N. Railroad Avenue in Georgetown.

The cleanup will take place from 10:00 a.m. to noon and will focus on local streets, parks, and other shared spaces.

Anyone interested in helping is encouraged to participate. Volunteers can register using the QR code on the event flyer, and walk-ins are also welcome on the morning of the cleanup.

Community-led efforts like this are an important part of building stronger neighborhoods. Residents often know exactly what their communities need, and sometimes the biggest step is having the support and resources to turn an idea into action.

First State’s Community Development team works with residents and neighborhood groups across Delaware to help strengthen community involvement and support local projects.

Those interested in organizing a cleanup or another community-based effort are encouraged to connect with us. We may be able to assist with planning, outreach, supplies, partnerships, and other resources to help get the work started.
