First State Community Action Agency

First State Community Action Agency works with individuals and communities to overcome the challenges of unemployment, homelessness, substandard living conditions, and hunger. Our sense of commitment to this goal is as strong today as it was when we started forty three years ago.

Our people go where they are needed. We work in communities like Cool Springs, Lucas Development, Meadowbrook Acres, Greentop, and Star Hill/Palmer Park to help them organize and maximize their talents and resources. Last year alone, we helped 190 families become homeowners. We provided tax preparation assistance to 412 individuals and families. We showed 157 families how to qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit. We made a difference.
